May Day Rides - New Shop Hours

Ok, so it really isn't on May Day, but we are officially starting the shop riding season on Wednesday the 4th of May.
Join us for a NEW Wednesday morning ride. This ride will be in addition to our regular riding schedule and will be a permanent ride from May through September. This ride is also a part of our NEW Pegasus / Kovarus Cycling Club and will be attended by members of growing Riding club that all of you should join. If you are looking for a group of non-racers to ride with, this is your group. All abilities, ages, creeds, colors and love orientations are welcome! The Pegasus Staff will also be there, so no worries while out on the road. We are also looking for input on the ride, routes, on or off-road, hills versus flat, etc. The rides will generally be about 35-50 miles at a moderate pace (14-16mph avg.) With the routes changing every week.

Ride departs at 9 am-ish. (for those of you who have never ridden with me ;).

This will be a great way for anyone new to the area to discover our amazing back yard. Make friends, learn how to ride in a group, fix flats and maybe even some roadside emergency tricks!

With this new additional ride, our shop hours on Wednesday will change to 12 noon to 7pm. (normal hours  were 10am to 7pm.)

Remember, we are here to help your riding experience in every way.

Join the Pegasus Kovarus Cycling Club and.......

Join the Club and get a special deal on our new custom Castelli Aero Pro bibshorts and jersey!

We are proud to announce the Pegasus Kovarus Cycling Club. This is NOT a racing team. We are creating a cycling community composed of all cycling disciplines, ages and ability levels. While some members may race, the heart and soul of the club is devoted to the church of the rolling mass, whatever your bike of choice is, we are here to support you and your passion for the beautiful sport of cycling.

As a member you will also have access to the Pegasus/Kovarus Club website and be notified of special rides, club events and sales held just for members. We will host evenings with product reps and rides with Pro-peleton riders. And, there will be weekly group rides led by our new club concierge Lisa. We will also ask you for your help and input to make the club and shop a place where you feel at home. We are planning a large Kick-off party in late April, where we will hand out the new kits, go for a ride led by Fast Freddie Rodriguez (no worries, we'll ask that he is slow that day) and return to some live music, food and beverages! Stop by the shop to see the kit in person or try on a sizing kit in case you need to verify your size before you place your order. We should have the kit in by next week. Place your order by March 6th in order to receive Castelli's best bibshort and Aero jersey for only $220.00! With 10% of the proceeds going to Children's Hospital Oakland. As a member of the Club you will be supporting one of the Bay Area's best treasures. (We will also have available custom matching Castelli arm warmers and windproof vest that you may order at the same time.)
Please visit www.pegasuskovaruscycling.com to join the Club and place your order.

FAST FREDDIE NOW BEING SERVED

Join us on Thursdays for cup of Fast Freddie Turbo Blend Coffee
and you may be served by Freddie himself! That's right, Pegasus is now the Official Coffee stop of FAST FREDDIE'S  training rides. The ride begins at the Domingo Ave. Peet's Coffee in Berkeley. Departure time is around 8:30 am and is informal. We have had three successful rides so far and the rides will continue until... The group pulls into Pegasus around 10:45-ish, for a short coffee break and for bike-centric conversation (as you will see in the slideshow images on the right).

Freddy is encouraging people to join the ride here and create their own loop if they are not interested in going all the way back to Berkeley. Typically the ride departs from the shop and goes up Mt. Diablo; out towards Livermore or, over Dublin Canyon, before heading back towards the bay. Can't make the ride? Just stop by to say hello and have a free cup the FF Turbo Blend coffee. You can also buy a can coffee and help support the Fast Freddie Foundation.

"Our mission at Fast Freddie Foundation (FFF) is to support young cyclists in achieving their goals in cycling and beyond. FFF is strongly committed to enhancing the physical, ethical, and professional development of young riders through our creation of cycling programs and our support of youth cycling teams and leagues that aim to give these talented and dedicated cyclists the skills and tools for realizing their dreams. FFF believes that essential to this objective is emphasizing that education and community responsibility are key to achieving success, both on and off the bike."- F.F.

The last couple of rides included a transplant pro on the Garmin-Transitions squadra, Kirk Carlsen. That's him comparing custom shoes and inserts with Freddie et al.(in the slide show to the right) Say hello to him and welcome him to the bay area, he is very approachable and a great ambassador of our sport. Well, say hello to him once he's back from winter training camp. I think they are in Spain....

Good thing the coffee smelled so good!
