Sunday Morning Birthday Ride

When was your last Birthday? Did you spend time doing all the things your soul needs to keep going?

Today we had a birthday ride. And after knowing this guy for the last twenty years, I know he started his day right. Sunday mornings at 8:30 we meet at the shop and ride. Sometimes road, sometimes mountain. Call to check. And once I get done with these repairs, I will begin posting in advance which it will be. Open invitation to you all, join us for mellow rides, easy pulls and good times.

See you out there or in the shop.

The Weekend Wrap at Pegasus

The Sunday ride grew this past weekend. Word is getting around about the new shop in town. Saturday night was the Artbeat Gallery event and we participated for our first time. On Sunday June 11th, Bike the Bridges Ride and Beer Festival rolls out from the Martinez Marina.

With smiles and a friendly pace, the bridges ride on Sunday was the best yet! Sorry it has taken me so long to get this post up, I have been wrenching at the shop non-stop. Both new and existing customers have been finding their way to downtown Martinez. Every week there seems to be something going on and everyday I meet at least two new customers.

Many gratitudes to all that have been so supportive, welcoming, gracious and generous with their time in helping me get established. I think we will really grow one of the best riding communities in the bay area!

Pictures below of the Sunday Ride and a post ride cappuccino, made lovingly by Irene at #StatesCoffee. I highly recommend the dark chocolate, sea-salt and almond cookie. They also have very yummy vegan doughnuts.

Also pictured... Saturday was #Artbeat in downtown Martinez. We were lucky enough to host photographic artista Lorena Castillo,(http://www.locaworksfoto.com/) Stop by within the next couple of weeks and take a moment to enjoy her work as you enter the store. Lorena's hand painted photographs of bikes, dogs, people and places, are giving the white walls of the shop some color and class. The Artbeat Gallery event happens every third Saturday of the month. Local business owners host artists in their stores from 6pm to 9pm, or later. We found ourselves with a house full until 9:30.

Saturday June 11th is Bike the Bridges, a benefit for the Special Olympics. Find out more here. https://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1157773

I will be out supporting riders in the morning, then saddling up for the ride and the BEER FEST that follows! I invite any of you to come along with the Pegasus group. I will be your ride sherpa and personal mechanic. And I will change any flats that happen along the way so you can enjoy a ride with your very own team mechanic. (I may only do the Metric Century though. So those of you doing the SAE Century will be on their own :) I hope you sign up and help them reach their goal of raising $80K for the Special Olympics!

See you there.

Faraday Demo bike on the Floor!

Interested in experiencing the next generation of clean transportation? Whether you are looking for a new way to get to work, cruise to the farmers market or just exercise, Faraday has you covered. In my experience with E-bikes, they are typically all a blast to zip around on. But what sets Faraday apart is the seamless transition from non-assisted pedaling to electrified pedaling! I have found myself riding this bike both with and without the aid of the torque inducing, front wheel drive, 350 watt max output hub.  But it is in those non-juiced moments that the Faraday shines. It is a pleasure to roll on. Well balanced, a natural feeling bike. This CANNOT be said about all E-bikes. Most are HEAVY and dead once the the power is cut. Ever ridden your bike with the brake pads rubbing? Add 30 pounds and you get the idea.

Stop by the shop and try this nuvo-retro versatile bike. And for those of you non-believers who have non-riding significant others... this can be a great equalizer. You get to ride at your pace and your partner can keep up and get a taste of the sport you love. You never know, they may actually fall in  love with the bike. And wouldn't that be amazing?

Thanks for the last 14 years

In March of 2002, a new bike shop opened in Danville, with the hopes and dreams of bringing the passion of cycling to a growing community. Our goal was to offer brands and products that were not seen in any other shops in the East Bay. We focused on European manufacturers and American builders, that were coveted by enthusiasts and racers alike. In 2004 we created C4 Racing, starting with only a dozen riders; the team grew quickly to over 100 members. We were also the first sponsors of the local junior racing team, Tiene Duro. Via C4 we started both the Lafayette Criterium, and the Mt. Diablo time trial that still ascends Northgate road to just below the junction. We were the first partners with Team DMC, a women's multi-sport club and team. I also named, and helped sponsor the first Cruella Ride hosted by DMC. And then there is the Mt. Diablo Challenge, which through the eight or so years we were associated, saw Pegasus donate over $12K to help the cause of our favorite mountain. We have had an amazing list of talented employee athletes: two that went on to be National Champions; one current pro; and the amazing amateur athletes that we call our regular clients. Before we go, we would like to thank all of you that supported us, and hope you continue to do so in the next evolution of the shop!! It may be a little bit of a drive, but I assure you it will be worth it! In the interim, please feel free to contact me at chris@pegasusbicycleworks.com. I will continue to take care of you all as best I can. I will have news posted soon about the next phase of life for Pegasus Bicycle Works. Stay tuned…
